“Open wide the doors to Christ! Open to His saving power!” (Words of Pope John Paul II in beginning his papacy)

Excerpts from INCARNATIONIS MYSTERIUM, Pope John Paul II:

“The birth of Jesus at Bethlehem is not an event which can be consigned tothe past. The whole of human history in fact stands in reference to him: our own time and the future of the world are illumined by his presence. He is "the Living One" (Rev 1:18), “who is, who was and who is to come” (Rev 1:4). Before him every knee must bend, in the heavens, on earth and under the earth, and every tongue proclaim that he is Lord (cf. Phil 2:10-11). In the encounter with Christ, every man discovers the mystery of his own life.”(1) “In the sign of the consecrated Bread and Wine, Christ Jesus risen and glorified, the light of the nations (cf. Lk 2:32), reveals the enduring reality of his Incarnation. He remains living and real in our midst in order to nourish the faithful with his Body and Blood.”

Excerpt from the Pope's Homily at Midnight Mass on Christmas:

“We fall down in adoration before the Son of God. We united ourselves in spirit to the wonder of Mary and Joseph. As we adore Christ, born in a stable, we make our own the faith, filled with astonishment, of the shepherds of that time; we feel their same amazement and their same joy.”

BE NOT AFRAID!

"Peoples of the entire world need to hear these words. Their conscience needs to grow in the certainty that Someone exists who holds in His Hands the destiny of this passing world... And this Someone is Love— Love that became Man, Love crucified and risen, Love unceasingly present among men. It is Eucharistic Love." (Pope John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope)

Excerpt from TERTIO MILLENNIO ADVENIENTE: “Everyone is asked to do as much as possible to ensure that the great challenge of the Year 2000 is not overlooked, for this challenge certainly involves a special grace of the Lord for the Church and for the whole of humanity.”
